In a historic milestone for health in the western region of Guatemala, Dr. Mariza Chan inaugurated the first radiotherapy center equipped with a linear accelerator. This technological advance represents a new era in cancer treatment for thousands of Guatemalans.
What are the Ideal Conditions for Removing a Linear Accelerator?
Every so often, we are faced with a challenging linear accelerator removal project. This particular removal of a Varian linear accelerator from a radiotherapy clinic in Japan was one such example.
Medical linear accelerators, like this machine, weigh almost 20,000 lbs. and require careful planning to remove safely and efficiently. This particular unit was too large to remove via hallways and doors and required a crane to hoist out of the clinic.
When a linear accelerator must be “craned out” of a facility, it certainly helps to have nice weather like this perfect sunny day for this removal.
ROS has been professionally de-installing and removing linear accelerators, CT Scanners, MRI Systems and other types of equipment for over 20 years. We remove equipment year-round, 365 days a year, no matter where or what climate exists (within reason). Our network of global specialists allow us to offer removal services to virtually any type of clinic or hospital, no matter where in the world. When thinking of removing or selling your radiation therapy or diagnostic imaging equipment, we hope you think of ROS and call us first.
