Two Southern California Organizations Team Up to Help Teenagers with Cancer Across America

Radiology Oncology Systems (ROS) of San Diego has released results from a survey taken in October 2015 related to radiation therapy in veterinary medicine.

Teen Cancer America of Los Angeles, CA, and Radiology Oncology Systems (ROS) of San Diego, CA, are teaming up to support Teen Cancer America’s efforts to change the way that teens and young adults with cancer are treated and supported in the United States.

Teens and young adults represent a unique subset of patients who are often not considered when cancer clinics are being developed. Teen Cancer America is focusing on educating and supporting hospitals and clinics in order to better serve this age demographic.

“Teenagers and young adults are going through growth and hormonal changes, and cancer programs and research generally focus on children or older people,” states Simon Davies, Executive Director of Teen Cancer America. “Teen Cancer America builds teen-friendly environments and develops standards for age-targeted care. It seeks to improve collaboration between pediatric and adult specialists, and also supports dedicated research to improve outcomes and survival rates for teens and young adults.”

ROS hopes to raise funds for Teen Cancer America by elevating the awareness of its programs to hospitals and clinics throughout the United States, spreading the message to the radiation oncology and diagnostic imaging communities where ROS conducts its business day-to-day. “It is natural for us to support an organization that not only supports a worthy cause, but that we align with so well in our own mission to expand the quantity and quality of patient care,” stated John Vano, the president of ROS
