Simulation software is a great teaching tool in radiation therapy, but is it as good as having a real machine? Teaching centers increasingly want to distinguish themselves by offering more advanced technology to their students, and some are taking a big step by installing real equipment. Virginia Western Community College (VWCC) installed a linear accelerator with Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) and Cone Beam CT (CBCT). Thanks to the help of a small company in San Diego California, Radiology Oncology Systems, Inc., VWCC is now able to provide its students with the latest radiation therapy techniques in a controlled, hands-on learning environment with real machines.
