HIGH DOSE RATE (hdr)

HIGH DOSE RATE (hdr) | OVERVIEW

Brachytherapy allows a physician to use a higher total dose of radiation (ten curies of Iridium 192) while treating a smaller area, and in a shorter amount of time than is possible than with external beam radiation treatment. In addition to treating body site specifics such as gynecological, breast, esophageal, lung, skin, head and neck sarcomas; high dose rate (HDR) brachytherapy is also considered one of the most advanced treatment technologies that is currently available for localized prostate cancer. HDR gives the advantage of applying a higher dose of radiation with greater precision, directly to the tumor, while sparing healthy tissue and surrounding organs.

HDR brachytherapy demands reliable, safe equipment that can be configured easily to accommodate the unique physical attributes of any patient. ROS offers refurbished and used HDR systems along with parts, installation support, and treatment planning software. ROS has expertise in dealing with key manufacturers of HDR systems including Varian, Omnitron, and Nucletron. We can provide turnkey packages that include sources, installation, and service.
